Role Overview
The Antenna Measurement Technician is responsible for the end-to-end execution of antenna characterization tests in both passive and active (Over-the-Air) modes. This role ensures that the Anechoic Chamber is operating at peak performance and that all data collected is accurate, repeatable, and compliant with international quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Test Preparation & Setup: * Configure RF test benches, including the integration of Network Analyzers (VNA), Signal Generators, and Spectrum Analyzers.
Physically mount antennas on multi-axis positioners and perform precise alignment to ensure phase center accuracy.
Select and verify appropriate RF cabling, connectors, and amplifiers for specific frequency bands.
Measurement Execution: * Execute passive measurements (Gain, Efficiency, Radiation Patterns, S-parameters).
Perform active/OTA measurements (TRP, TIS, EIRP) for wireless devices (5G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth).
Monitor real-time data acquisition to ensure the system remains stable throughout long measurement cycles.
Data Analysis & Troubleshooting:
Process raw measurement data into readable formats (polar/3D plots).
Identify anomalies such as unexpected ripples, cable leakage, or environmental interference.
Perform "First-Level" troubleshooting by verifying calibration states, equipment and device-under-tests are operating consistently during test, checking connector torque etc to isolate faults.
Quality & Compliance (ISO17025):
Maintain detailed laboratory logs and ensure all measurement equipment is within its calibration interval.
Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) strictly to ensure data integrity and traceability.
Assist in Uncertainty Budget calculations and participate in proficiency testing.
Maintenance & System Health:
Perform quarterly "Golden Device" verification tests to ensure system consistency.
Inspect anechoic absorber health and maintain mechanical positioners (lubrication, limit switch checks).
Basic Requirements
1. Education & Experience
Education: SPM or Technical Diploma in Electronics, Telecommunications, or Electrical Engineering. Proficient in English speaking, reading and writing.
Experience: Experience working in an RF laboratory environment preferred.
2. Technical Skills
Software: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data logging; familiarity with automated measurement software (e.g., Satimo/MVG, ETS-Lindgren, or Keysight platforms) is a major plus.
Mechanical Aptitude: Ability to use hand tools for mounting heavy equipment and handling delicate RF connectors (SMA, 2.92mm, etc.) without damage.
3. Soft Skills & Compliance
Attention to Detail: Critical for identifying small deviations in data that indicate a hardware failure.
Quality Mindset: Prior experience with ISO9001 or ISO17025 environments is highly preferred.
Problem-Solving: A logical approach to "splitting the system" to find the root cause of a measurement error.
Collaborative team work: Able to take instructions, understand them well, clarify if needed, works well with others.
Communicate clearly: Able to voice out concerns or alert issues in a timely and clear manner to the technical manager.
