The Role
Your Impact
Reporting to the Director of Onsite Subsurface Science and Engineering (SSE) services, the Senior Geoscience Consultant will be responsible for delivering dedicated and onsite services to a large National Oil Company.
The successful candidate for this key role will be part of an early adopter program, tasked with ensuring a continuous and evolving customer adoption of a cloud-native, AI agentic-ready environment to accelerate subsurface projects that operate on industry standard (OSDU) data structures to automate workflows and accelerate subsurface decision-making.
In this role, the successful candidate will work closely with oil company geoscientists to define, implement, and execute repeatable workstreams that will improve customer productivity and accelerate and qualify upstream decisions. Workstreams can include project screening and evaluation of data, new venture workflows for rapid prospect evaluation and review, rapid and highly integrated structural and facies model building, and uncertainty screening. Al assisted queries can be applied to all workflows.
Responsibilities
Work closely with customer geoscientists in building, executing, refining, and documenting workstreams that improve customer decision making, and productivity.
Ensure continuous and optimized customer use of an agentic AI software solution to conduct and execute those workstreams
Provide loyalty-inspiring on-site customer services that drive user engagement and sustain product usage
Document customer successes and pain points and communicate them to project managers, R&D, and service personnel
Develop an understanding of customer business challenges and requirements
Manage customer expectations and relationships through regular meetings and communications
Prepare and present technical reports, presentations, and recommendations to customer and to AspenTech stakeholders
Work in close collaboration with your supervisor, customer geoscientists, and colleagues to ensure effective coordination and successful delivery of project activities.
Conduct projects through final delivery and report writing.
What You'll Need
5 to 8 years of industry experience as a Geomodeller and Geologist in the oil and gas industry.
· Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Geology, Computational Geology, Structural Geology or related Geoscience discipline.
· Experience in defining structural, stratigraphic, and depositional frameworks and identifying trap geometries and reservoir distribution.
· Experience in building geomodels including structural models, property models, and facies models.
· Working understanding seismic interpretation, reservoir characterization, and petrophysical analysis workflows
· Experience with applying AI methods subsurface projects
· Experience with or knowledge of industry open platforms like OSDU
· Experience with operating application software in a Cloud, considered a plus
· Ability to navigate smoothly within modern application software interfaces, incorporating multi-tasking of activities and operations
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve complex technical issues and capability to prioritize tasks.
· Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey complex technical concepts to a variety of audience.
· Ability to identify opportunities that create value for customers with a strong customer first mindset.
· Ability to proactively take the lead in resolving complex technical issues and/or difficult organisational problems with an innovative approach.
· Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and competing priorities.
· Experience with Python scripting considered a plus
· Experience with Formation Evaluation Solutions (e.g, Geolog), Seismic Characterization Solutions (e.g., SeisEarth), and Geomodelling solutions (e.g., SKUA, RMS) from AspenTech considered a plus.
