Job Description:
We are seeking a strategic and experienced privacy attorney to join our legal team. This role will lead the Company's legal efforts in privacy, data protection, and emerging AI governance. The successful candidate will provide expert legal counsel as needed to company departments, guide compliance with evolving privacy laws, and help shape the Company's approach to responsible data use and innovation.
Position Requirements:
Provide expert and timely advice regarding privacy, data protection, cyber and AI related legal matters (collectively, "Privacy") to the company.
Review and ensure compliance with Privacy laws and regulations, including GDPR, CCPA and other global privacy laws and regulations.
Manage Internal Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA) and AI DPIAs
Manage Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs) responses and records
Advise the business on privacy-related policies, including establishing/modifying internal and external Privacy policies as needed;
Provide Privacy-related input and assistance with respect to the development of new products and services.
Participate in investigations (internal and regulatory) and litigation regarding violations of Privacy laws.
Participate in ISO 27701 27001 27017, 2018, 42001 and SOC 2 Type II external audits, serving as Datasite subject matter expert for applicable data privacy controls
Respond to data privacy due diligence questionnaires and inquiries from Datasite’s clients
Manage Data Protection and AI Policies, perform yearly reviews to update for changing business strategy and legal developments
Assist with issues related to security incidents, including notification obligations
Adapt to changes in law, Company processes, and technology
Remain flexible and willing to support colleagues and practice areas across the legal department as needed for the office to meet work demands
Minimum Requirements:
Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school; AND
Five + years of experience as a practicing attorney with specific experience in privacy, data protection, cyber and AI related legal matters.
Certificates and Licenses: Active state bar license
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
Good strategic and 'big picture’ skills, including screening the horizon for new developments
Experience in successfully presenting/educating/training to employees
Good interpersonal, leadership, negotiating, and collaborating abilities.
Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple projects with attention to detail
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Past experience working for an international company is a plus
Work Location & Flexibility
This position is based in our Minneapolis office location and follows a hybrid work model. Employees in this location are expected to work on-site a minimum of two days per week. Please note that specific business units or role requirements may necessitate additional in-office days based on team collaboration needs or operational priorities.
The base salary range represents the estimated low and high end for this position based on a good faith assessment of the role and market data at the time of posting. Consistent with applicable law, each candidate’s compensation offer may vary and will be determined based on but not limited to, your geographic region, skills, qualifications, and experience along with the requirements of the position. This position may be eligible for bonuses, commissions, or overtime if applicable. Benefits include health insurance (medical, dental, vision), a retirement savings plan, paid time off, and other employee benefits. Specific details will be provided during the interview process. Datasite reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time.
$117,500.00 - $206,700.00
