Job Description
Trend Micro is hiring a Senior Motion Designer to join our Consumer Business Unit, based in Taipei.
In this role, you will shape how Trend Micro's consumer brand and products move, creating motion that ranges from brand campaigns and marketing films to product interactions and AI-powered concept videos. You'll bring generative AI as a serious part of your daily craft, while keeping motion design fundamentals as your foundation.
Our mission is to make cybersecurity more accessible and more human: helping people understand digital risks and proactively protect the people they care about. Motion is part of how we deliver on that mission, turning abstract security concepts into experiences people can feel and trust.
🌏 What you will work on
You will create motion across brand, product, and concept work for our primary consumer markets in Japan and Western regions, contributing to:
Brand & marketing motion: campaign films, launch videos, social shorts, and event opens for consumer security and AI product launches
Concept & pitch films produced with generative AI to support early product exploration (e.g. AI butler / agent experiences)
Product motion: UI micro-interactions, state transitions, AI agent feedback animations, and motion specs (Lottie, Rive) for engineers
A shared motion language evolving across the consumer product portfolio, in partnership with product designers
Global motion consistency, syncing with global brand teams for coordinated product launches
✨ Why join this role
This is not just an "execute motion briefs" role. It is an opportunity to define how a global consumer brand moves in the AI era, and to set the bar for what AI-augmented motion craft looks like at scale.
You will help define:
How consumer cybersecurity should feel in motion: calm, trustworthy, intelligent
How AI is integrated into design workflow as a creative collaborator, not a shortcut
How global products are visually calibrated for Japan and Western markets
How motion can reduce fear and build confidence around digital risk
This role is well-suited for designers who care about:
Motion craft as a foundation, AI as an amplifier
Cross-cultural visual language
Real-world applications of generative AI
Designing for trust, reassurance, and long-term user relationships
📍 Role details & expectations
Title: Senior Motion Designer
Location: Taipei (hybrid, with regular office presence)
Team: Consumer Business Unit
Primary markets: Japan + Western regions
Language requirement (must-have)
Business-level English, able to present, discuss, and collaborate with global teams
Experience requirement (must-have)
3+ years of motion design experience with a portfolio reel demonstrating range across motion formats: brand, product, and conceptual work
Motion design (your foundation): deep craft in After Effects, Lottie / Rive, and motion graphics video, with a strong sense of timing, easing, hierarchy, and restraint. Comfortable across brand films, social shorts, event opens, and motion graphics for marketing
Generative AI visual tools, in depth: production experience with Runway, Kling, Veo, Midjourney,
Krea, Flora, and a curious, exploratory mindset toward new releases. You understand the underlying logic behind these tools and can achieve precise character control (consistency, pose, expression, identity preservation) through prompt engineering, reference images,
ControlNet / IPAdapter, and similar control mechanisms, rather than rolling the dice and picking the best take
Natural language + AI dev workflow integration: Claude, Gemini, ChatGPT for ideation, copy, and prompt development. Able to integrate Claude Code (or similar AI dev tools) into your design workflow, automating design tasks, generating motion specs, and co-building AI augmented pipelines with engineers
Adobe (Photoshop, Illustrator): extending visual assets for marketing collateral
Demonstrated ability to ship motion that engineers can implement (specs, handoff, performance awareness)
Strong brand sensibility with consumer-market intuition
Education background (preferred)
Bachelor's or Master's degree in one of the following fields:
Motion Design / Animation
Visual Communication Design
Film, Video, or Media Production
Interaction Design
Fine Arts or Illustration
or a related design, media, or visual arts discipline
Or equivalent practical experience with a strong portfolio.
⭐ Bonus points
Candidates with one or more of the following will be given preference:
Advanced image / video generation stack: exposure to Stable Diffusion, ComfyUI, or similar open-source / self-hosted pipelines for character LoRAs and custom workflows
Figma / UI visual design proficiency: layout, typography, color, design systems, Auto-layout
App Interaction / UI micro-interaction experience: prior production work on UI motion / micro
interactions
Contributing to a published design system or motion guidelines
Consumer tech or AI product industry background
