About the team and the role:
As the Senior Merchandising Manager, you will lead the strategy and execution of TCGplayer’s highest-impact merchandising moments, owning how tentpole events, flagship set releases, seasonal peaks, and partner activations come to life across the buyer experience. Reporting to the Senior Director of Buyer Growth, you’ll translate business priorities into integrated plans across onsite merchandising, lifecycle channels, content, and paid media—driving measurable gains in engagement, conversion, and GMV. You’ll serve as the cross-functional merchandising lead for major initiatives, improving data, experimentation, and scalable playbooks to continuously optimize performance. As a senior partner across Marketing, Product, Design, and Business Intelligence, you’ll influence decisions, align teams, and set the standard for how merchandising fuels growth and delivers standout buyer experiences.
An eBay company, TCGplayer is on a quest to be the most trusted trading card game (TCG) platform — connecting and empowering the hobby community. Founded by and for TCG enthusiasts, we operate a global marketplace, and build tools, technologies and solutions that help small businesses simply and profitably sell TCGs at scale.
The Marketing Department promotes TCGplayer as a brand and drives sales of our products and services. The department is responsible for the long-term planning, strategy, and direction of creative and digital campaigns and projects across multiple channels (internal and external) supporting company strategic priorities and goals. Marketing serves as brand stewards by enforcing and evolving content voice and visual brand standards across the company.
What you will accomplish:
Own and lead end-to-end merchandising strategy and execution for enterprise tentpole moments, define the vision, themes, and success criteria for flagship set releases, holiday peaks, cultural events, and key partner activations
Translate business priorities into integrated merchandising plans across onsite merchandising, email and push, social and content platforms, and paid channels to drive buyer engagement, conversion, and GMV lift
Be responsible for the merchandising and promotions calendar; align initiatives to priorities, define scope, timelines, dependencies, and owners; ensure timely delivery
Serve as the primary merchandising lead for tentpole initiatives, partnering with cross-functional collaborators to set goals, execution plans, and success metrics
Analyze funnel and placement performance (CTR, conversion, GMV lift, AOV, bounce/exit) to identify root causes and optimization opportunities; turn insights into action
Lead cross-functional workstreams with Marketing, Product, Design, Content, Operations, and Business Intelligence to launch on schedule and to quality standards
Develop and evolve tentpole playbooks (e.g., Pokémon Day and set release frameworks) to drive consistency, speed, and scalability across merchandising activations
Run experiments and personalization initiatives (segmentation, creative variants, placement strategies) to continuously improve buyer experience and business outcomes
Mentor and guide merchandising team members or cross-functional partners, setting standards and raising the overall quality of merchandising preparation and delivery
Communicate results and recommendations to stakeholders and leadership; influence decisions with clear trade-offs grounded in data
Proactively manage dependencies and risks; maintain clear, timely communication to keep teams aligned
What you will bring:
Minimum 5-8+ years of progressive experience in e-commerce merchandising, buyer marketing, promotions, or related growth focused roles
Demonstrated ownership of end-to-end tentpole programs (e.g., franchise days, set launches, seasonal peaks) with measurable impact on engagement, conversion, and GMV
Strong planning and follow-through skills, with the ability to translate high-level goals into detailed plans across teams and channels
Strong analytical skills; comfortable with data quality checks, funnel analysis, experimentation, and impact quantification
Proven cross-functional leadership from strategy and planning through launch, optimization and retrospectives
Experience building, documenting and scaling operational playbooks and processes for recurring, high-visibility merchandising events
Ability to influence without direct authority, driving alignment and momentum across marketing, product, creative, and business intelligence teams
Passion for the hobby; understanding of trading card game buyer behavior strongly preferred.
