Lyft is expanding its policy presence in Canada and looking for a seasoned policy professional to own our Ontario portfolio and, together with our Quebec-based Policy Manager, shape and execute our national strategy.
This policy expert will work directly with elected officials, policymakers, and key stakeholders in Ontario and beyond. They will deal with a range of political, regulatory, and government issues that are critical to the company. Come join the exciting ride!
Responsibilities:
Execute Lyft’s legislative, regulatory, and political strategy, advancing Lyft’s priorities
Represent Lyft in interactions and meetings with government officials and at public events
Track legislation relevant to Lyft at municipal and county levels
Work cross-functionally with colleagues to develop public policy strategies that support Lyft’s operations and business, including rideshare growth and expansion to new markets
Coordinate with Communications team on press opportunities and inquiries
Inform company leadership and lines of business on relevant political, legislative, and regulatory developments
Maintain relationships with industry trade associations, third party stakeholders, and relevant policy coalitions
Track and respond to government inquiries and requests
Manage external consultants to assist with key Lyft policy priorities
Draft comments, talking points and memos for senior Lyft executives
Establish partnerships and programs that have a positive impact on communities across the country, acting as a force for good
This position will require some travel and evening availability
Experience:
5+ years of relevant government and/or business experience in tech sector preferred
Knowledge of federal, provincial and municipal legislative and regulatory processes
Experience directly lobbying government officials on complex issues
Superior organizational skills and track record of cross-functional collaboration
Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation)
Ability to thrive and be responsive in a fast-paced environment
Exceptional strategic and problem-solving skills
Natural connector and relationship builder and a good teammate
Self-starter; entrepreneurial and comfortable operating with autonomy

In addition to provincial observed holidays, salaried team members are covered under Lyft's flexible paid time off policy. The policy allows team members to take off as much time as they need (with manager approval). Hourly team members get 15 days paid time off, with an additional day for each year of service

The expected base pay range for this position in the Toronto area is CAD $145,000 - CAD $181,250, not inclusive of potential equity offering, bonus or benefits. Salary ranges are dependent on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience and geographic location.
