Job Description
Reporting to the Director, Technical Sales & Field Application Scientist the Project Coordinator will be responsible for all aspects of project management, coordination and implementation relative to the NGS Services Lab and related businesses of Twist Bioscience. Owning execution from customer intake through delivery, while driving scalability, process optimization, and cross-functional alignment.
The position manages all of the communications required to facilitate each project, as follows: Communication with customers, sales & field application support, Twist customer service, Twist legal and Twist product management group.
What You’ll Be Doing
Project coordination and technical leadership for the NGS service and applications lab
Intake, Scoping & Quoting
Serve as the technical and operational lead during project intake, translating customer needs into clearly scoped, executable NGS service programs (DNA, RNA, methylation, long-read)
Own project definition and intake, including:
Customer objectives - Translate complex customer goals into optimized sequencing strategies and workflows.
Scope, assumptions, and constraints
Workflow design and feasibility
Cost, timelines, dependencies, and deliverables
Success criteria aligned to customer outcomes
Partner with Sales and FAS to shape opportunities early, including:
Defining the right assay or sequencing approach
Identifying risks, tradeoffs, and alternative strategies
Setting realistic expectations with customers
Post intake execution
Own end-to-end project coordination following intake through final delivery, ensuring continuity between scoping, lab execution, and data delivery
Serve as the central coordination hub across all functions, including: Lab Operations, Bioinformatics, Customer-facing teams (Sales / FAS), and the Customers
Drive regular project syncs with the lab manager (daily/weekly) to track progress vs timeline, identify risks, ensure alignment across teams
Serve as the primary point of contact for project updates post-intake
Establish and maintain clear communication cadence, including: Status updates, Timeline changes, Data delivery, and invoicing
Manage customer expectations proactively, especially around: Turnaround time (TAT), Data quality, Scope changes or technical challenges
Maintain real-time visibility of all active projects in coordination with the lab team
What You’ll Bring to the Team
3-4 years of relevant research experience utilizing Next Generation Sequencing technologies, with 1-2 years in a customer facing role
Requires bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry or related Life Science. Advanced degree and / or hands on laboratory experience a bonus
Customer communication from inquiry to delivery of services
Expert understanding of NGS workflows
Understanding of NGS services offering and customer workflows that the services offerings address
Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams, and to work effectively with customers, internal operations and sales teams
Demonstrated track record of managing projects that meet customer expectations
Outstanding leadership, teamwork, and communication skills
Hands on, high energy, positive attitude with a can do attitude that gets it done
Must be able to work outside of regular work hours/ work a flexible shift as needed
Highly motivated and result-oriented personality with ability to work under pressure
Motivated team player, positive attitude, excellent initiative and problem solving abilities

The base cash compensation for this California-based role is below. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for bonus, equity, and a generous benefits package. Final compensation amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate skill, experience, expertise, and location and may vary from the amount listed above. Compensation may be different in other locations.

$94,000—$110,000 USD
