Principal of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)

COMPANY OVERVIEW Blue Energy’s mission is to unlock energy abundance, energy affordability, energy security, and turn-key decarbonization by developing the fastest path to deploying new nuclear MWs at scale. We are utilizing shipyard manufacturing supply chains and techniques from offshore oil and wind to reduce the cost of nuclear plants by over 60% and the manufacturing timeline to 24 months. Blue Energy is a platform technology that makes use of the latest NRC-approved reactors and is in negotiations with existing nuclear and industrial sites, enabling a much faster regulatory pathway to deploy our first unit. With our innovative centralized shipyard manufacturing approach, we can put nuclear power on a cost-reduction learning curve akin to wind, solar, and lithium-ion batteries. ROLE SUMMARY We are seeking a strategic and analytical Principal of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) to drive financial planning, forecasting, and performance analysis across the organization. This role is critical in shaping our financial strategy, enhancing our management information systems, and delivering actionable insights to both internal stakeholders and the board. You will also play a key role in the implementation of our ERP system to streamline financial data and reporting processes. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Develop and maintain financial models to support budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis. - Provide financial insights and analysis to support decision-making and strategic planning. Identify opportunities to improve financial performance and operational efficiency. - Design and enhance internal reporting frameworks to provide timely, accurate, and insightful financial and operational metrics to leadership. - Lead the finance workstream of the ERP system rollout, ensuring alignment with business needs and seamless integration with existing tools and processes. - Assist with the preparation of monthly leadership report and quarterly board decks, including financial performance, KPIs, and strategic analysis. - Collaborate with department heads to support strategic initiatives, optimize resource allocation, and drive financial accountability. - Conduct variance analysis and identify trends and key drivers of financial performance and recommend corrective actions. - Continuously improve FP&A processes, tools, and systems to enhance efficiency and scalability. Automate budgeting by incorporating latest AI technologies. - Build, mentor and develop a growing finance and accounting team. QUALIFICATIONS - Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; MBA or CFA a plus. - 5+ years of experience in FP&A, investment banking, consulting, or corporate finance, preferably in a high-growth environment. - Strong analytical skills with advanced proficiency in Excel and financial modeling. - Experience with BI tools (e.g., Vena, Looker, Tableau, Power BI) and financial planning software (e.g., Adaptive Insights, Anaplan). - Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. - Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with teams in development, commercial, operations, legal, engineering, and executive leadership. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - Previous experience at a Big 4 Accounting firm preferred. - Proven experience implementing ERP systems (e.g., Dynamics 365, NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, etc.). - Passionate, self-starter with strong commitment to flawless execution. - Excellent communication and presentation skills; experience reporting directly to executive teams or boards.
