About Mozilla Mozilla is a mission-driven portfolio of companies and organizations working together to shape an internet that serves people and the public good. Currently, this portfolio includes: the Mozilla Corporation, which makes Firefox; the Mozilla Foundation, which champions our mission through philanthropic risk capital; Thunderbird Technologies Corporation, which makes Thunderbird; Mozilla Ventures, which invests in responsible tech startups; Mozilla.ai, which creates open source AI developer tools; Mozilla Data Collective, a data sharing platform for human agency and fair value exchange. It also includes a handful of smaller strategic investments and Mozilla's investment reserve. Mozilla.org serves as a steward of this portfolio, managing Mozilla's assets and investments to ensure they are used to advance the vision outlined in the Mozilla Manifesto. Mozilla Corporation is the non-profit-backed technology company that has shaped the internet for the better over the last 25 years. We make pioneering brands like Firefox, the privacy-minded web browser. Now, with more than 225 million people around the world using our products each month, we’re shaping the next 25 years of technology and helping to reclaim an internet built for people, not companies. The Challenge Mozilla’s mission to champion the internet as a global public resource is measured through a double bottom line: advancing that mission while succeeding in the market. At the Mozilla Corporation, we live our mission thesis through building our and scaling trusted, user-first products, with a focus on the Firefox browser. The global public policy team enables this by shaping laws and regulatory frameworks that support our open source technologies, strengthen user choice and privacy, and ensure fair competition to create the conditions for responsible innovation and long-term growth. Do you like working on big-picture problems? Join us to influence the future of tech policy! Mozilla is looking for an experienced Policy Communications Europe Lead to help set the public narrative on the role our browser, Firefox, and browser engine, Gecko, play in order to keep the web open. We build products in the public interest to support the Mozilla project. The work will cover privacy, AI, open source, competition, and internet policy—translating the positions Mozilla’s policy team develops into stories that get ahead of the debate, not just respond to it. In this pivotal role, you’ll drive Mozilla’s proactive policy media voice across regions and audiences, build narratives, craft media relationships, and build credibility amongst key stakeholders. You’ll translate complex, high-stakes policy issues into stories that connect, inspire, and drive impact. You’ll help Mozilla—and the people and partners who believe in an open internet—cut through noise, frame critical debates, and spotlight what’s at stake for users everywhere. The Role As Policy Communications Lead for Europe, you will: Sit in the Comms, Marketing & Policy organisation, reporting to the Head of Public Policy, Europe. Focus on Europe as your key region, but be able and ready to apply your skills to emerging key markets for Firefox on other continents. Be a central operator, translating policy strategy into public narrative that advances the products we build and the changes they are advocating for on the web. Own and drive Mozilla’s proactive media narrative on privacy, security, AI, open-source, competition, and emerging regulatory issues—translating policy positions into stories that get ahead of the debate rather than following it. Place and amplify a steady cadence of thought leadership pieces such that put Mozilla’s policy positions in front of the right audiences. Serve as a strategic partner and trusted advisor to communications colleagues and senior Mozilla leaders, supporting proactive and reactive policy comms across the organisation. Work cross-functionally with marketing, legal, product and engineering teams to shape narratives that advance Mozilla’s mission and differentiate our voice from “Big Tech.” Build and nurture relationships with key journalists, policymakers, industry, thought leaders, advocacy organizations, and influencers in technology, digital rights, and policy spheres. Craft and edit a wide range of materials—press releases, blog posts, policy statements, op-eds, speeches, regulatory submissions, and executive briefing documents. Prepare Mozilla spokespeople for high-stakes media, public, and policy engagements, including message development, media training, and issue briefing. Track and respond to fast-moving external developments, helping Mozilla seize moments to lead important conversations and manage risks. Help shape Mozilla’s public policy positioning on critical product initiatives, supporting launches, campaigns, and issue-based advocacy. Work closely with the wider communications team and external agency partners to ensure clarity, alignment, and operational rigor across channels. Serve as a point of escalation and counsel in high-risk, complex, or crisis policy scenarios. What You’ll Already Have 5-10 years of experience in policy communications, media relations, or related roles, ideally in technology, advocacy, or policy-driven environments. Exceptional writing and editing skills—with the ability to distill complexity into clarity, urgency, and actionable narrative. Deep knowledge of technology policy issues such as privacy, data, AI, competition, digital rights, open source, and internet regulation. A track record of building strong relationships with journalists, policymakers, and policy-focused organizations globally. Experience advising and supporting senior executives on high-profile, high-stakes communications and issues management. Strategic instincts, operational rigor, and comfort with ambiguity and rapid change. Confidence operating in a global, remote, and mission-driven organization. Experience supporting product communications and collaborating with engineering/technical teams. Ability to balance strategic vision with hands-on execution—no job is too big or too small. Passion for Mozilla’s mission: making the internet safer, more open, and more human. Bonus Points For Experience in both in-house and agency settings. Additional languages beyond English, particularly French and German will be an asset. Prior experience in open-source, civil society, or non-profit tech environments. About Mozilla Mozilla is the non-profit-backed technology company behind pioneering products like Firefox, the privacy-focused browser. Every month, over 225 million people use Mozilla’s products. We’re a community of staff and volunteers committed to an internet that’s a global public resource—open, accessible, and safe for everyone. If you’re passionate about telling stories that move policy, shift mindsets, and help build a better internet, we want to hear from you. Group: C #LI-DNI Req ID: R3246
