Position: Physical Therapist, Outpatient (South Bay Clinic)
Location: Dorchester, MA
Schedule: 40 hours per week (M-F)
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Staff Physical Therapist conducts comprehensive assessments of patients in the outpatient setting with physical and functional deficits, planning and implementing physical therapy treatments to promote mobility, reduce pain, restore function, prevent permanent disability and restore independence, using various treatment techniques. Collaborates with other disciplines to arrange for appropriate follow-up care and facilitates a returning to prior levels of to home and work function. Provides student training according to departmental guidelines and participates in continuous education.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conducts physical therapy evaluation procedures according to professional and departmental guidelines.
Establishes treatment goals and plans that reflect the needs of the patients while meeting departmental, institutional, and third party reimbursement requirements.
Implements comprehensive individual and group treatment. Consistently demonstrates clinical competence.
Complies with departmental, institutional, and accrediting agency policies and standards.
Shows evidence of on-going professional growth and knowledge of regulations and standards.
Participates in the development and evaluation of physical therapy programs
Collaborates with colleagues and other professionals to provide high quality patient care.
Orients medical professional staff and the community to physical therapy. Supervises physical therapy students.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
Work requires a Bachelor’s / Master’s or equivalent in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution by time of hire.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:
Work requires a current Commonwealth of Massachusetts license or ability to obtain license by time of hire.
APTA and MCAPTA membership preferred.
Work requires a current CPR certification by time of hire
EXPERIENCE:
New grads welcome; experienced therapists encouraged to apply.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Work requires interpersonal skills necessary to effectively interact with patients, families and various members of the health care team.
Work requires analytical abilities sufficient to evaluate patients’ condition, capabilities and progress to develop appropriate treatment programs.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:
Boston Medical Center outpatient department has three facilities in and around Boston. The Dorchester location is conveniently located in the South Bay shopping center and is our largest facility. Our Hyde Park location services our patients south of Boston and our Winthrop location provides care to our patients north and east of the city.

Compensation Range:
$34.86- $50.72
This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. However, our approach to determining base pay is comprehensive, and a broad range of factors is considered when making an offer. This includes education, experience, skills, and certifications/licensures as they directly relate to position requirements; as well as business/organizational needs, internal equity, and market-competitiveness.
