Key Responsibilities
1. Oncology Strategy and Planning
Own the development, prioritization, and execution of the Korea Oncology medical strategy and integrated medical plan, aligned with Global/Regional strategy and the local landscape.
Set and shape the Korea scientific narrative for priority Oncology assets — delivering early scientific differentiation, practice-shaping evidence generation, and relevant education with clarity, conviction, and differentiation.
Represent Medical in Oncology brand teams and cross-functional leadership forums; co-drive the therapeutic area with commercial counterparts as one team.
Plan and manage the Oncology medical budget and activity calendar with disciplined financial stewardship; relentlessly prioritize investments where they drive the greatest patient and enterprise impact.
Contribute to the medical/scientific sections of pricing and reimbursement files (HIRA/NHIS) and collaborate with HEOR/Market Access on HTA strategy.
Act as medical reviewer/signatory for promotional and non-promotional materials per local SOPs, ensuring claims are accurate, fair, and balanced.
2. External Engagement and Customer Focus
Own the truth of the external environment: define the treatment landscape and market realities, anticipate where the field is going, and identify the unmet needs that must be addressed — anchoring BMS to external reality and the external world to our science.
Develop, maintain, and deepen trusted peer-to-peer relationships with National Thought Leaders, HCPs, patient advocacy groups (PAGs), medical societies, and payer stakeholders across the Korean oncology community.
Engage with TLs/HCPs through multiple channels (e.g., 1:1 meetings, group presentations, virtual/remote interactions), serving as the senior scientific counterpart for top-tier national TLs.
Continuously profile and assess the medical landscape within oncology, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of treatment strategies, clinical trial activities, unmet medical needs, competitive landscape, and scientific developments.
Support acceleration of pipeline impact and launch readiness through a concentrated congress and data strategy and high-impact, practice-relevant scientific exchange — including leading Korea Medical deliverables for key medical projects and ONO alliance activities.
Provide scientific support at medical meetings, including presenting unbiased data, evaluating speakers, and supporting BMS-contracted speakers.
Leverage digital tools and capabilities — including AI — to enhance the quality, reach, and efficiency of medical engagement.
3. Field Medical Leadership and Coaching
Provide field medical leadership to Oncology MSLs (dotted line): set territory and TL engagement priorities aligned to the medical plan, and drive field excellence.
Coach and develop MSLs against the Competency Framework through regular co-visits, field coaching and structured feedback.
Evaluate and coach MSLs on the Scientific Engagement Model competencies; foster a culture of psychological safety, accountability, and continuous learning.
Grow, elevate, and empower the Oncology field medical team to lead with purpose, influence, urgency, and excellence; act as a role model in the field.
4. Clinical Trial Support and Evidence Generation
Own the local Oncology data-generation strategy (including RWD), with evidence generation tied to patient needs and enterprise decisions; support Interventional and Non-Interventional Research (NIR) studies in accordance with local medical management direction and the relevant study scope document.
Support Investigator-Sponsored Research (ISR) and Managed Access Protocol (MAP) proposals and execution processes, in compliance with company and legal guidelines.
Generate early signals that derisk development and expand the clinical value of the pipeline; provide feasibility insights to the clinical development team based on field knowledge and investigator relationships, and contribute to early prioritization of development programs for Korea.
Ensure that BMS Pharmacovigilance procedural documents are understood and applied by all investigators in local studies; promptly alert appropriate BMS personnel to any identified Adverse Events (AEs).
5. Medical Insights Capture and Communication
Systematically collect, consolidate, and communicate meaningful medical insights from the field back to internal stakeholders to inform strategy development, medical plans, and pipeline decisions.
Gather and share intelligence on the competitive landscape and clinical practice trends to support strategic decision-making.
Harness digital innovation as an impact multiplier — including AI-powered identification of unmet needs and evidence gaps — to accelerate insights-to-action across internal and external signals.
Appropriately document all activities and achieve annual goals in accordance with BMS performance and reporting requirements.
Collaborate with other field teams to ensure aligned, consistent, and compliant scientific communications with customers.
6. Compliance and Ethics
Endorse and actively model a culture of compliance and integrity, adhering to all applicable internal BMS policies and external laws and regulations (including MFDS and the KRPIA Fair Competition Code).
Act as a role model demonstrating consistent ethical and professional behaviour at all times.
Alert management or the Compliance Department promptly to any potential compliance issues identified in the field.
Work with the local Pharmacovigilance-responsible colleague to ensure all AE information identified in the field is correctly and transparently collected and reported to relevant Health Authorities.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Advanced scientific or medical degree required: MD (preferred), PharmD, or PhD with experience in Oncology, or with a broad medical background.
