In this role you will
Engage in scientific dialogue with external experts around GSK’s oncology medicines in line with GSK Code of Practice and local laws and regulations
Support GSK study teams by providing scientific expertise as required to investigators and staff engaged in GSK-sponsored clinical trials and Investigator-Sponsored Studies (ISS). This may include feasibility, site identification, investigator engagement, and scientific support
Respond to unsolicited requests for medical and scientific information from healthcare providers in a fair, factual, balanced, and scientifically rigorous manner via the appropriate and preferred channel
Act as the interface between the professional healthcare community and the internal GSK medical team and its affiliates to bring in value-added insights that inform GSK medical, clinical, Research & Development and commercial strategy
Act as an expert speaker at internal and external events in line with GSK Policy.
Partner with matrix colleagues (e.g. clinical operations, R&D, marketing, market access, etc.) to ensure strategies and business plans are both patient and business focused, and adding value to the external expert
Disseminate important safety information to healthcare professionals as and when this emerges
Provide scientific education training for business partners by being the local scientific expert for oncology pipeline assets
Attend scientific meetings and congresses to maintain a high level of expertise in the scientific / therapeutic area and competitor landscape and enable timely discussion and debate of the evolving science with external experts
Basic Qualification
We are seeking professionals with the following required skills and qualifications to help us achieve our goals.
Higher degree (or equivalent) in life sciences, clinical sciences or equivalent (PhD, MD, PharmD, MSc or similar) and/or registered healthcare professional or significant industry experience in medical affairs engaging with external experts.
Strong clinical and scientific knowledge within the oncology field
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to explain complex science clearly.
Proven ability to build and maintain professional relationships with healthcare providers and stakeholders.
Good knowledge of the UK healthcare system and ability to work independently in the field.
Confident networker with a proactive, solutions-focused approach.
Strong project management skills and ability to prioritise workload.
Preferred:
If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus
Therapy area experience in gynae or colorectal cancer.
Previous experience working as a Medical Scientific Liaison or in a field-based medical affairs role.
Experience supporting clinical trials, investigator-sponsored studies, or real-world evidence projects.
A good understanding of clinical development, and statistical design and analysis.
Track record of presenting at scientific meetings or contributing to publications.
Experience of compliance standards, including the ABPI Code of Practice.
Effective networking and collaboration skills to achieve business results.
Strong business mindset and ability to balance cross-functional objectives.
A sense of curiosity and a passion for continuous learning and development.
