Job Description
Our vision is to transform how the world uses information to enrich life for all.
Micron Technology is a world leader in innovating memory and storage solutions that accelerate the transformation of information into intelligence, inspiring the world to learn, communicate and advance faster than ever.
Department intro
Join us for a hands‑on internship/thesis project to build a prototype enabling high‑speed communication between two FPGAs using the JESD204C serial protocol. You will integrate the AMD Vivado JESD204C IP with custom RTL to generate and capture data traffic, verify the design through simulation, and validate functionality on AMD evaluation boards with lab instrumentation.
Position overview
The ideal candidate for this role would share our passion for developing and experimenting with FPGA-based systems in a highly dynamic, hands-on environment.
Our SPG (Storage Product Group) tools development team designs and validates innovative hardware platforms to support next-generation storage and memory solutions. Our work spans from early prototyping to lab validation using advanced FPGA technologies.
We are looking for highly motivated and curious candidates to work on an FPGA-based prototype focused on high-speed serial communication.
During the internship, the student will work on FPGA-based embedded systems.
In particular, the candidate will analyze and implement a solution to enable communication between two FPGAs using the JESD204C high-speed serial protocol.
Responsibilities
Study the JESD204C protocol and the AMD-provided IP
Design and implement an FPGA system integrating JESD204C and custom RTL logic
Develop data generation (TX) and capture/verification (RX) logic with a defined packet format
Simulate, synthesize, and deploy the design on AMD development boards
Develop simple firmware and perform on-board testing using lab instrumentation
Minimum qualifications
Bachelor or Master’s degree in electronic engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent is required
Basic experience in VHDL and/or Verilog
Basic knowledge of FPGA-based embedded systems
Familiarity with laboratory instrumentation (logic analyzers, oscilloscopes)
Preferred qualifications
Familiarity with FPGA SoC platforms (e.g., Zynq, Versal)
Basic understanding of high-speed serial interfaces
Experience with C programming for embedded systems
Good English knowledge (spoken and written)
Action-oriented and organized
