Job Description
The Indirect Tax Specialist is responsible for coordinating the preparation and filing of indirect tax returns across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with local regulations. The role assists in managing audits and inquiries, providing necessary documentation and collaborating with external advisors to resolve issues. The role develops expertise in the company’s products and services, address challenges and opportunities while working under general supervision to adhere to policies. The role supports tax-efficient business strategies, integrating tax considerations into various business processes and minimizing risks. The role prepares and analyzes tax reports, provides insights to management, and participates in special projects related to system upgrades and cross-border transactions.
Your role:
Coordinates the preparation and filing of indirect tax returns for VAT/Sales tax jurisdictions (including Canada) ensuring all returns are completed accurately and submitted in compliance with local tax regulations.
Assists in managing indirect tax audits and inquiries, providing necessary documentation, explanations, and working closely with external advisors to address any issues raised by tax authorities.
Works under general supervision and established processes, utilizing independent judgment to navigate and adhere to operational policies, ensuring compliance and performance.
Participates in special projects and initiatives related to indirect tax, such as system upgrades, process automation, and cross-border transactions, ensuring that tax requirements are adequately addressed.
Supports the implementation of tax-efficient business strategies, providing expertise on the indirect tax implications of various business activities, transactions, and contracts.
Collaborates with cross-functional teams such as procurement, logistics, and finance to ensure that tax considerations are integrated into business processes and decisions, minimizing tax risks.
Supports the continuous improvement of tax compliance processes, identifying areas for enhancement, assisting in the development of best practices, and implementing automated solutions where applicable.
Monitors legislative changes in indirect tax and assess their impact on the organization, updating internal procedures and training relevant teams to ensure ongoing compliance.
Manages the reconciliation of indirect tax accounts, ensuring that discrepancies are identified, investigated, and resolved promptly to maintain the integrity of financial records.
Prepares and analyzes indirect tax reports, providing insights and recommendations to senior management on potential risks and opportunities related to tax compliance.
You're the right fit if:
Bachelor's Degree/ in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or equivalent.
At least 3 years of progressive work experience in managing VAT compliance on a country level.
SAP knowledge (FI, CO module) is a must.
Fluent communication skills in English (both oral and written) are required at minimum C1 level. Other European languages are nice to have.
Knowledge of/ expertise in internal controls, SOX, controlling, project management, administrative organization.
Ability to effectively prioritize and organize workload, multi-task is essential.
Effective in influencing and collaborating (courageous discussions) with colleagues from various disciplines and cultures.
Highly developed analytical capabilities, with a strong business and customer sense.
Effective listening and communication skills, highly developed interpersonal skills.
