Department Overview
We are currently looking for a talented and skilled Government Affairs Manager to be part of our global Government Affairs team to focus on public policy issues related to consumer protection as well as the intersection of privacy and technology. This role will be based in Washington D.C.
Job Description
Motorola Solutions is seeking a Lobbyist to support the company’s federal government affairs strategy. This role will focus on building, maintaining, and leveraging strong relationships with Members of Congress and their staff, particularly within the Senate and House Commerce and Judiciary Committees. The successful candidate should have Capitol Hill experience, existing relationships with key stakeholders and the ability to advocate for Motorola Solutions’ priorities related to telecommunications, technology, privacy, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, drones, and other policy issues.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute federal advocacy strategies in support of Motorola Solutions’ legislative and policy priorities
Maintain established relationships and build new connections with Senators, Members of Congress, and senior committee staff on the House and Senate side
Proactively set up and participate in meetings with congressional offices to educate policymakers on Motorola Solutions’ technologies, business interests, and policy positions
Engage regularly with Members and staff of the Senate and House Commerce and Judiciary Committees on issues of importance to Motorola Solutions
Monitor, analyze, and report on legislative and regulatory developments related to telecommunications, data privacy, AI, cybersecurity, drones, and other issues
Prepare meeting readouts and communications for internal and external stakeholders
Participate on trade association calls to stay current on policy developments and coordinate advocacy strategies
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree
2+ years of government experience
Strong understanding of the legislative process and relevant committee jurisdictions
Ability to advocate for the company’s policy positions effectively and impartially, irrespective of personal beliefs or persuasions
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills
Preferred Qualifications
Current or former employment with a Member of Congress, who serves or served on a House or Senate Commerce or Judiciary Committee
Possess established working relationships with key members and staff in both the House and Senate, and demonstrate the ability to independently schedule meetings
Experience working on issues relevant to Motorola Solutions, including technology policy, telecommunications data privacy, AI, cybersecurity and drone-related policy
Travel
Occasional domestic travel may be required.
Target Base Salary Range: $150,000 - $170,000 USD
Consistent with Motorola Solutions values and applicable law, we provide the following information to promote pay transparency and equity. Pay within this range varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate.
