Department Title: Undergrad Intern – Franklin Equity
Position Summary:

Franklin Equity Client Portfolio Specialists are the primary point of contact for their respective strategies/funds. Responsible for the promotion, defense, and competitive positioning of Franklin Equity strategies, we are actively involved in global distribution initiatives. Specialists are also responsible for providing portfolio and market analysis to enhance content development and ensure accurate and compelling representation of Franklin Equity strategies. Franklin Equity Client Portfolio Specialists may also act as portfolio manager proxies, providing deep product insight and representing PM perspectives in high-value research, gatekeeper and consultant interactions, as well as in-depth strategy discussions.
We are looking for an intern to join the Franklin Equity team based in Short Hills, NJ. This internship provides a unique opportunity to work closely with our client portfolio specialist group and exposure to a number of other areas, including portfolio managers, analysts, risk, compliance, sales and other departments at Franklin Templeton.
You’ll be able to contribute to the commercial success, growth, and retention of client assets for the firm’s investment strategies; supporting meaningful projects that shape how we position and communicate our strategies including helping develop investment content, conducting market and competitor research, and supporting client and sales requests.

Client Portfolio Specialists are considered subject matter experts in our respective areas of focus and interact regularly with other groups across Franklin Templeton—including sales, marketing, product, legal, and operations—offering a broad view of how the business works and opportunity to build relationships across the firm
An intern in this department can expect to learn:
Exposure to the way a global asset manager positions and communicates strategies across channels
Experience developing clear, engaging investment content using real market and portfolio data
Insight into market trends, competitor products, fund positioning, and performance drivers that influence product strategy
Understanding of cross-functional collaboration across investments, sales, product, and marketing teams
Practice analyzing data, including holdings, attribution, and market themes to support client and sales inquiries
Skill in translating complex investment ideas into clear messages for clients and internal stakeholders
Key Responsibilities Can Include:
Developing investment content for sales and client purposes, including presentations, marketing materials and digital content
Conducting product comparisons using Morningstar and desktop research
Providing marketing research and competitor analysis
Responding to portfolio inquiries from sales and clients, including requests for market, economic, fund positioning, investment holdings, competitor analysis, and performance attribution
Answer general investment strategy questions from sales and clients independently or draft answers for review by the team
Analyzing FT sales activities and investment flows across regions globally
Ideal Qualifications:
Keen interest in developing a career in financial services
The ability to analyze data, conduct financial analysis / financial research
Demonstrates basic knowledge of the investment management industry and concepts
Proficient in using Microsoft Excel, World, and PowerPoint
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with individuals at all levels, both within the organization and externally

This is a full-time internship where students will work approximately 37.5 (dependent on state/location) hours per week and earn competitive hourly pay of $37 - $47 (dependent on location and function) USD per hour. There are several factors taken into consideration in making compensation decisions including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
