Environment, Health & Safety Manager / RSPP – Italy
You will act as the key reference point for Health & Safety (H&S) in Italy, ensuring legislative compliance, risk prevention and a strong “Safety First” culture across office, field and customer environments.
Your role
In this role, you will be the single point of reference for Health & Safety (H&S) in Italy, coordinating prevention and protection activities and actively contributing to the reduction of H&S risks for employees, contractors and third parties.
You will operate in a multi‑site and cross‑functional environment, covering offices, field activities (installations and maintenance at customer sites), events (fairs and conferences) and activities carried out at customer and supplier premises. You will work closely with Operations / Field Service, Facilities, HR, Legal, Procurement and Quality, ensuring full alignment on H&S priorities and actions.
Reporting hierarchically to the IIG (Italy, Israel, Greece) H&S Geography Leader, you will work in close coordination with the Italian Employer and local management. The role includes acting as Head of the Prevention and Protection Service (RSPP) in accordance with Italian Legislative Decree 81/2008, with an operational reporting line to the Employer.
Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation, including requirements monitoring, gap analysis, compliance action plans, management of deadlines and documentation, and support to the Employer / Delegated persons in fulfilling obligations under Legislative Decree 81/2008.
Identify, assess and prioritise key H&S risks across offices, warehouses/labs (where applicable), field activities at customer sites, business travel and events, defining and monitoring improvement plans and prevention and protection measures.
Support risk assessments and the updating of the Risk Assessment Document (DVR) and related procedures, contributing to the definition of technical, organisational and procedural measures.
Manage prevention programmes, including incident and near‑miss reporting, investigations, corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), and actively promote a strong “Safety First” culture.
Implement global H&S procedures, campaigns, programmes and initiatives, ensuring alignment with corporate standards.
Plan and deliver (or coordinate) H&S training and information activities for employees, supervisors, managers and key roles, including specific training for field activities and contractors.
Manage and coordinate internal and external audits and inspections, including certification activities, ensuring the timely closure of non‑conformities.
Support business functions involved in contractor management, including DUVRI preparation where applicable, operational coordination when required, and on‑site checks, if applicable.
Ensure the implementation and ongoing maintenance of the H&S Management System, in line with company standards and ISO 45001 requirements.
Prepare, update and communicate H&S policies, procedures and operating instructions, ensuring effective communication with both internal and external stakeholders.
You're the right fit if you have:
A degree in Engineering, Technical disciplines, Environment, Health & Safety or similar (or a diploma with significant relevant experience).
Mandatory RSPP qualification (Modules A, B and C, with required updates) and ISO 45001 Internal Auditor certification.
At least 3-5 years of experience in Health & Safety roles, preferably in structured, multi‑site organizations with field activities at customer sites (installations, maintenance, technical service). Experience in regulated industries (e.g. Medical Devices, Health Tech, Pharma) is a strong plus.
Solid expertise in H&S risk assessment, incident and near‑miss investigation, CAPA management, audits (internal and external) and implementation of H&S management systems in line with ISO 45001 (ISO 14001 knowledge is a plus).
Strong knowledge of Italian Health & Safety legislation (Legislative Decree 81/2008 and subsequent amendments) with proven experience in legal compliance.
Solid knowledge of management system standards and their practical application: ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 (the latter considered a plus).
Proven experience in conducting audits (internal and external) and in managing non‑conformities and corrective actions.
Experience in managing HSE programmes, including KPI tracking, reporting, prevention initiatives, and the drafting and updating of HSE policies and procedures.
Experience as an H&S trainer, including the design and delivery of training programmes, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences.
Qualification as a Safety Trainer in accordance with the applicable State‑Regions Agreement is considered a plus.
Strong communication skills, ability to work autonomously and influence stakeholders across functions in a multicultural environment.
Good level of English in addition to italian as local languange.
Willingness to travel nationally, if needed.
