Electrical and Instrumentation Supervisor

About the role
The Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Supervisor is responsible for the day‑to‑day supervision, accountability, and performance management of the Mine Area Maintenance Electrical and Instrumentation teams, comprising approximately six tradespeople. This role provides hands‑on leadership while coordinating maintenance activities in an industrial mining environment and supporting crew members in troubleshooting and resolving equipment issues.
The E&I Supervisor is expected to support and guide the team to ensure Mosaic’s safety, environmental, production, quality, and employee engagement objectives are consistently achieved across both electrical and instrumentation disciplines. Core responsibilities include electrical planning, scheduling, and work log management, requiring daily interaction and communication with Mine Area stakeholders such as Operations, Maintenance teams, Service Rigs, Logging groups, and Capital project teams.
Instrumentation workflow activities, including planning, scheduling, and work log management—are assigned to a designated Instrumentation team member under the supervisor’s leadership and oversight.
What will you do?
Lead by example, promoting a strong safety culture among team members.
Lead the Mosaic Mine Area Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) crew, consisting of three Electricians, three Instrumentation Technicians, and one rotating Instrumentation Co‑op student.
Serve as the Mine Area Electrical Planner by managing SAP workflows, ordering materials, and maintaining accurate workflow documentation.
Act as the contractor host for third‑party electrical contractors operating within the Mine Area, ensuring compliance with site standards and procedures.
Develop, maintain, and manage the weekly work schedule and forelog in coordination with Operations, Rig groups, and other Maintenance teams to support site workflow KPIs.
Ensure full crew compliance with site safety programs, including SABER observations, Intelex reporting, corrective action tracking, monthly safety meetings, FLHA reviews, and housekeeping audits.
Lead and support crew‑level risk identification and risk reduction initiatives.
Utilize the site performance management system to establish goals, monitor performance, and provide ongoing coaching and feedback.
Attend, contribute to, and when required, lead daily and weekly maintenance and Mine Field group meetings.
Track, manage, and ensure compliance with training, certification, and qualification requirements for the Electrical and Instrumentation team.
Serve as the primary point of contact and liaison between the Mine Area and Refinery Electrical & Instrumentation groups.
Role Focus
40% – Electrical crew workload management, scheduling, and maintenance planning.
30% – Leadership, safety support, and mentorship through field engagement, feedback discussions, shift pass downs, and incident trend reviews.
10% – Participation in hazard identification and risk reduction initiatives identified through crew feedback and field observations.
15% – Attendance and participation in meetings and cross‑departmental communication.
5% – Third‑party contractor hosting and oversight.
What do you need for this role?
A solid foundation in safety leadership and the ability to intervene constructively is critical for this role.
High School Diploma/GED with a minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience.
Trade experience/Journeyperson certificate in Electrical trade is required.
Step-up, leadership, or supervisory experience preferred.
Demonstrated commitment to safety through training or work experience is an asset.
SAP and Microsoft Office experience is required due to core planning responsibilities.
Strong motivation, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills in a fast-paced environment are considered assets.
Strong understanding of Maintenance/Operations workflows, Minefield Maintenance/Operations/Service Rigs interactions, and site safety and regulatory requirements.
Knowledge of the Mine Area high voltage system is considered an asset.
