Pay Range: €29,300 - €46,940
Placement within the salary range will vary depending on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and internal equity considerations.
Position Summary
The Distribution Centre Team Lead is a hybrid role combining hands-on operational delivery with day-to-day team leadership and support. The role spends approximately 50% of time performing Distribution Centre Operative duties, and 50% of time supporting supervision of daily activities, acting as the first point of contact for operators during shifts.
The Team Lead supports the Distribution Centre Supervisor by coordinating workload, monitoring adherence to procedures and service levels, providing on-the-job guidance, and escalating issues as required. While the role contributes to continuous improvement and operational discipline, it is not a process owner and does not hold formal people management accountability.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Delivery (Approx. 50%)
Perform all core Distribution Centre Operative activities, including inbound receipting, outbound picking, packing, dispatch, and system transactions (D365, Salesforce, courier platforms).
Ensure shipments are accurately prepared, labelled, documented, and dispatched in line with customer, regulatory, and dangerous goods requirements where applicable.
Maintain high standards of accuracy, safety, cleanliness, and organisation across assigned work areas.
Actively contribute to meeting daily service levels, SLAs, and team targets.
Day-to-Day Team Leadership & Support (Approx. 50%)
Act as the first point of escalation for Distribution Centre Operatives for operational queries, workflow issues, and priority changes during the shift.
Coordinate daily task allocation in line with direction from the Distribution Centre Supervisor, adjusting priorities as required to meet service needs.
Provide on-the-job guidance, coaching, and knowledge sharing to support consistent ways of working and skill development across the team.
Support onboarding and training of new starters by reinforcing established procedures and standards.
Monitor adherence to health, safety, quality, and environmental requirements, escalating concerns or incidents to the Supervisor promptly.
Act as a role model for professionalism, teamwork, and customer focus.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
Champion Bio-Techne’s ISO9001 (Quality), ISO14001 (Environmental), and Health & Safety standards within daily operations.
Support, but do not own, audit preparation and compliance activities by ensuring daily practices align with documented procedures.
Promote safe working practices and contribute to a positive, compliant working environment.
Continuous Improvement Support
Identify opportunities for operational improvement and raise ideas or issues to the Distribution Centre Supervisor.
Support the Supervisor in implementing agreed process changes or improvement initiatives.
Reinforce standard work and updated procedures once approved and released.
General
Carry out other reasonable duties to support the effective operation of the Distribution Centre.
Skills & Experience – Essential
Fluent written and spoken English.
Strong hands-on experience in a distribution, logistics, or warehouse environment.
Demonstrated ability to guide, support, and influence colleagues without formal authority.
Excellent attention to detail, organisation, and time management skills.
Strong customer service mindset with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
Confident IT user with experience of ERP/CRM systems.
Flexible and proactive approach to workload and priorities.
Skills & Experience – Highly Desirable
3rd level qualification in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Med Tech Operations NFQ L6
Skills & Experience – Desirable
Qualification and knowledge of Dangerous Goods by Air (IATA).
Forklift licence.
Experience using Microsoft D365, Salesforce, and multiple courier shipping platforms.
First Aid or Fire Marshal certification.
