Director Medical Affairs, Medical Lead HIV (m/f/d)

Role Purpose:
Responsible for strategic direction and leadership for the German Medical Affairs in-house team, for the tactics, the planning and the delivery of national medical affairs activities/initiatives in Germany, for internal partners and external partners (HCPs).
You will work closely with various cross-functional counterparts and teams in commercial (across brands), market access, clinical operations etc. to ensure a well-balanced portfolio approach to ViiV’s national promotional and scientific meetings and materials, pricing and reimbursement operations as well as clinical studies.
You are responsible for national insights gathering for ViiV Germany across the ViiV portfolio. This also includes competitor products and evolutions in treatment algorithms to provide strategic direction and launch initiatives that best address challenges and opportunities in the therapy area (with internal partners). They will also be responsible for external advice seeking and market intelligence, e.g. competitors, payor and HPC association tactics, to ensure strategies are appropriate for our franchise objectives. Through their team, provide portfolio training to VH Germany. Assure scientific and medical information needs of external opinion leaders are met. Direct training of health care professionals who are engaged by ViiV to deliver scientific presentations. Ensure compliance with all applicable corporate policies, SOPs and external regulations. To work in partnership with the German management team to remain focused as we now have a portfolio of products across Europe.
Key Accountabilities
To act as reviewer and approver (“information officer”) of external documents according to the applicable German legislation (§74AMG), thus ensuring legal compliance of product information with its marketing authorization according to the AMG. In addition, the information officer shall observe the prohibition of misleading advertising regarding ViiV products according to the applicable German healthcare promotional legislation (HWG).
Lead the insights process for Germany to ensure consistency, dissemination of findings and identify meaningful tactics across the portfolio and lead the national medical education strategy across Germany to establish ViiV as the leader in medical education (across the therapeutic area) based on robust needs and assessment evaluation.
Work with the team to deliver strategic materials for deployment of the German customer-facing teams that supports the overall portfolio vision for ViiV. Champion a “digital first” approach in all operational activities for the team and the LOC Medical organization. Maintain a high level of knowledge and expertise in the regulatory and ethical environment and work to partners within VH to comment on and inspire changes when appropriate. Build and maintain effective relationships and facilitate, with their team, the provision of scientific expertise with marketing, commercial, market access, compliance and legal to ensure the creation and delivery of scientifically accurate resources.
Lead and coordinate cross portfolio advice seeking and insight gathering in line with regulations and policies and drive digital fluency behaviors, encouraging curiosity, a growth mindset, and smart data-driven decision-making.
Foster positive relationships with German KEEs
Lead portfolio and medical education strategy and guide the team to develop and deliver content via F2F and digital symposia and workshops.
Proactively drive team development towards ViiV’s position as a digital leader to deliver targeted, meaningful, and personalized interactions.
Monitor and develop Medical KPIs & metrics

Experience & Skills Required:
Knowledge of Pharma regulatory requirements governing Medical and Commercial activities and the ability to develop strategy and delivery materials within these frameworks.
Must be qualified to be registered as Info B according to German regulations
Strong medical and business insight; ability to think strategically and translate a strategy into a innovative implementable plan with national impact.
Ability and comfort in operating within a highly regulated environment and industry, which requires detailed knowledge and understanding to ensure compliance.
Able to apply, interpret and communicate this knowledge to the wider matrix team.
Ability to credibly present, interact and influence to & at senior levels both internally and externally
Ability to influence and engage meaningfully with matrix functions with different functions (Corporate, Marketing, Sales, Market Access, R&D / Clin Ops, Regulatory Affairs, Safety, Quality etc.)
Ideally experience in team leadership, at a minimum demonstrated ability to lead peers in matrix team set-up
High competence in team and personnel leadership and management
Excellent communication and social skills with persuasiveness and excellent experience in stakeholder management
High degree of ownership as well as initiative and goal orientation
Excellent analytical and organizational skills, strategic thinking
Graduate in Medicine/ Pharmacy/ Biology
Advanced English level.
Other Skills/Requirements
Strong scientific knowledge and ability to transfer science into external medical output
Strategic thinking combined with a strong focus on digital execution and customer facing projects for the team are a must.
Can do mindset with a strong affinity to solving problems and creating solutions. Incorporate Tech based solutions and innovative ways in a changing therapy landscape for the team and the organization.
Pro-active leadership style to guide and develop a team in a cross functional, customer focused setting within a changing healthcare environment
Ensure data driven decision making and evolution of digital fluency is well reflected within the team and the organization
