Counsel, Commercial The Fastly Legal team is looking for a deal lawyer, negotiator and lifelong learner to join our dynamic team in supporting all commercial operations of Fastly. We are looking for a lawyer who sees themself as a trusted advisor who solves problems practically. The ideal candidate will have strong foundational law firm training from a respected law firm, solid experience working with in-house enterprise sales teams, experience with privacy and data security issues relevant to SaaS and an interest in taking on additional responsibilities. This position is open to candidates based in San Francisco or New York and will report to our Associate General Counsel, Commercial. What You'll Do: Independently draft, review, and negotiate complex master subscription agreements with enterprise customers and work closely with our Sales organization to close revenue deals Work with our Deal Desk, Compliance, Security, Product and other stakeholders across the company to ensure alignment between our contracts, products and our operations Draft, review, and negotiate other agreements, such as various vendor agreements, infrastructure agreements, and channel partner agreements Develop and optimize contract playbooks, clause libraries and playbooks to share knowledge and scale the Commercial Legal team What We're Looking For: BA/BS and JD from respected institutions, member of the California, New York or other applicable bar in good standing 4+ years of relevant legal experience working in a law firm and in-house legal department, with at least 2 years of in-house experience focused on revenue-generating commercial transactions Experience drafting and negotiating to successful and timely closure enterprise cloud, infrastructure and SaaS sales agreements Experience supporting a sales organization and keeping pace with a steady volume of commercial transactions in a fast-paced, high-growth environment Demonstrated ability to acquire deep product knowledge in the SaaS space Ability to work independently and comfortable working with colleagues in different offices and locations Strong “plain English” written and verbal communication skills, excellent analytical skills and attention to detail As legal advisors, we inform and immerse ourselves in the operations of the business to thoughtfully and strategically counsel within the context of practical business needs and constraints and stakeholder expectations and requirements. We’ll be super impressed if you have experience in any of these: Experience supporting channel sales for enterprise SaaS, especially negotiating referral, reseller and MSP agreements Experience negotiating commercial transactions with companies in AI or regulated industries (e.g. government contracting, financial services, healthcare) Curiosity about how the internet really works and enthusiasm for technology Work Hours: This position will require you to be available during core business hours. Salary: The estimated salary range for this position is $195,720.00 - $234,864.00. Starting salary may vary based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, and location.
