Job Summary
Synechron is seeking an experienced Calypso Solution Architect to lead the design, development, and migration of large-scale, enterprise-level financial services solutions within the Calypso platform. The ideal candidate will collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to architect scalable, secure, and compliant systems supporting a wide array of financial products such as derivatives, fixed income, and settlement processes. This role provides strategic leadership to ensure system robustness, efficiency, and alignment with industry standards, facilitating business growth through technology innovation.
Software Requirements
Required:
Extensive hands-on experience with Calypso platform, specifically version 16.1 or higher, including end-to-end system migrations, upgrades, and customizations
Strong proficiency in Java (latest versions), including system integrations, API development, and custom module implementation
Solid analytical skills in PL/SQL, database design, and optimization, particularly with Oracle and SQL Server
Deep understanding of Calypso modules such as Pricing, Accounting, ERS, Workflows, Reporting (Jasper), and Task Station
Experience with system architecture, design patterns, and code review practices
Preferred:
Experience working with Calypso on cloud environments or supporting cloud migration projects
Familiarity with Jenkins or other CI/CD tools for automation of deployment processes
Knowledge of scripting languages like Shell or Python for automation and configuration
Overall Responsibilities
Lead the technical design, development, and deployment of large-scale Calypso solutions supporting various financial instruments such as derivatives, fixed income, and settlement systems
Drive system upgrades, migration activities, and new feature implementations, ensuring minimal disruption and adherence to best practices
Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, develop technical specifications, and translate business needs into scalable architectural solutions
Provide technical oversight during development, reviews, and testing phases, ensuring quality, security, and regulatory compliance
Establish and enforce system architecture standards, best practices, and documentation protocols
Lead troubleshooting efforts, root cause analysis, and system performance tuning in production environments
Mentor junior developers, promote code quality, and foster a culture of continuous improvement
Technical Skills (By Category)
Programming Languages:
Required: Java (latest versions) for system development and integration
Preferred: Other JVM languages such as F# or Kotlin, for specific integration tasks
Databases & Data Management:
Oracle, SQL Server, and PL/SQL development, including stored procedures and performance tuning
Cloud Technologies:
Basic knowledge of cloud deployment (AWS, Azure, or GCP) supporting system migration or cloud-native solutions
Frameworks & Libraries:
Calypso modules, JasperReports, APIs, and integration middleware
Development & Automation Tools:
Jenkins, Git, Maven, scripting languages (Shell, Python), and version control systems
Security & Compliance:
Knowledge of industry standards such as PCI DSS, data security, and audit compliance in financial systems
Experience Requirements
Minimum of 10 years of IT experience with at least 5 years dedicated to Calypso platform development, migration, and support
Proven track record in enterprise financial systems, including derivatives, settlement, and back-office processing
Experience leading large software migration projects, including system upgrades and integrations
Deep domain knowledge of financial instruments and regulatory standards is desirable
Prior experience working with cloud deployment or modernization initiatives is advantageous
Day-to-Day Activities
Design, develop, and oversee the implementation of Calypso solutions supporting core financial processes
Manage large-scale upgrade and migration projects, ensuring compliance and minimal operational impact
Collaborate with business analysts and other technical teams to analyze requirements and develop technical architectures
Conduct code reviews, system testing, and performance tuning to ensure system reliability and security
Troubleshoot and resolve production issues proactively, implementing root cause analysis and preventive measures
Document system architecture, configurations, and operational procedures for transparency and compliance
Mentor team members, lead technical discussions, and promote best practices
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline
5+ years of experience supporting and developing Calypso-based solutions in financial institutions
Certifications in Calypso or related financial technology systems are preferred
Proven expertise in system upgrades, migrations, and integration in secure, regulated environments
