Job Description
About Anthropic
Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.
About the Role
As an AV Broadcast Engineer, you'll serve as the technical engineering lead ensuring flawless execution of the events and broadcasts that enable communication across our global organization. You'll act as both technical director and primary escalation point for complex production challenges, bringing deep expertise in audio DSP, video broadcast systems, and camera technologies to every event—from intimate executive presentations to company-wide all-hands broadcasts reaching thousands of participants.
This is an opportunity to define what world-class event production looks like at a cutting-edge AI research organization. You'll drive the long-term vision for how events and broadcasts evolve for the audiovisual team while working at the intersection of hands-on engineering and strategic infrastructure planning—making real-time technical decisions during live productions while collaborating on the global broadcast standards and systems that scale with our organization. Your work directly enables the collaboration and transparency that advance our AI safety mission.
Responsibilities
Engineering Lead & Technical Escalation

Manage relationships with AV integrators for system upgrades, installations, and complex technical support
Event Production & Technical Direction
Work collaboratively with onsite events team to ensure seamless technical execution and successful event outcomes
Consult and design technical setups for events ranging from intimate executive presentations to company-wide broadcasts
Coordinate with event stakeholders to translate production goals into technical solutions and equipment requirements
Drive global event support efforts, ensuring consistent technical standards and knowledge sharing across office locations
System Maintenance & Optimization
Oversee preventative maintenance programs for event spaces, ensuring engineering-level diagnostics and procedures are followed
Optimize existing AV systems through firmware updates, DSP tuning, camera tuning, network configuration, and equipment calibration
Delegate hands-on maintenance tasks to onsite technicians as appropriate while maintaining oversight and quality control
Maintain and test inventory of professional event equipment including wireless microphones, cameras, and portable production gear
Identify systemic issues requiring architectural improvements and collaborate with AV Engineering team on solutions
Global Broadcast Design & Infrastructure
Contribute to architectural decisions for broadcast studios, streaming infrastructure, and event technology across global offices
Collaborate with AV Engineering team on standardization of broadcast workflows, equipment specifications, and technical requirements
Provide technical input on office expansion projects requiring event spaces or broadcast capabilities
Document engineering standards, system designs, and technical specifications for global deployment
You May Be a Good Fit If You:
Have 7+ years of hands-on experience in broadcast engineering, live sound reinforcement, or technical event production
Possess deep technical expertise in audio DSP, microphone techniques, and acoustic optimization for speech
Bring strong knowledge of video broadcast systems including camera operations, signal flow, and multi-camera production
Can operate as both the engineer solving complex problems and the technical director calling shots during live productions
Excel at building relationships with stakeholders, translating technical concepts into business value
Take ownership of technical quality end-to-end, from system design through live execution
Strive for excellence in every production while maintaining pragmatic judgment about what's achievable within constraints
Thrive in environments requiring both strategic thinking and hands-on problem-solving in fast moving environment
Bring a collaborative engineering mindset while confidently making technical decisions under pressure

How we're different
We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills.
The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences.
